UCAN Americorps Scholarship Program
The Americorps Scholarship Program is a wonderful opportunity to receive an educational voucher scholarship during your Level II fieldwork. Briefly, here is a summary of the facts:
- Qualified candidates must be US citizens.
- Eligible fieldwork sites must be non-profit centers located in the United States .
- The scholarships available in our OT Department are for approximately $2,362 for 900+ hours of fieldwork or $1,250 for 450 hours. OT Level II FW for one placement of 12 weeks is 470 hours, so any student doing a Level II FW at a non-profit site between the appropriate dates will be eligible. The 900 hour scholarship would cover both 12 week Level II fieldwork placements.
- Student candidates/awardees must be able to attend an orientation in Fort Collins ; the orientation will be the commencement of the scholarship eligibility. The orientation is a couple of hours long and there is no distance/electronic version available.
- The scholarship money is an educational voucher that can only be used for education related expenses: tuition, books, repayment of student loans, etc. The student has up to seven years in which to use the voucher. The scholarship is considered taxable income.
- Any given person is eligible to receive two awards during their lifetime.
- The candidate may not accept an hourly stipend during their fieldwork while receiving this scholarship.
